W. Edward Hatten, Jr., a shareholder in the firm, was born May 8, 1965 in Jackson, Mississippi. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he was a member of and actively involved in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Ed attended the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he served as a member of the Moot Court Board (1989-1990).
Prior to joining the firm in 1995, Ed's legal career included service as Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Mississippi from 1991 to 1993, and thereafter he was engaged in private practice in Jackson, Mississippi.
Professional memberships held by Ed include: The Mississippi Bar; Harrison County Bar Association; and Harrison County Young Lawyers Association. Ed is also a member of the Russell-Blass-Walker Chapter of the American Inns of Court; a member in the Defense Research Institute (DRI); a member of the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association (MDLA); and he is a member of and has served on the Board of Directors of the International Alumni Association of the University of Southern Mississippi (2000-2003), as well as the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter of the Alumni Association. He is also actively involved in the University of Southern Mississippi Eagle Club, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Eagle Club.
Ed is married, and he and his wife, Karen, have three children: Mallory, Will and Logan. Ed and his family are active members of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi, where Ed serves as a member of the Church Council and the Family Life Committee. He is also actively involved in and has assisted with coaching of baseball teams in the Gulfport Youth Sports Association.
