Hugh D. Keating was born in Boulder, Colorado on September 9, 1952. His family heritage on the Mississippi Gulf Coast dates back to the mid 1920's.

Within the Mississippi Bar, Hugh has served as Chairman, Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee and member, Fee Dispute Resolution Committee. He currently serves on the Board of Bar Commissioners, 2nd District, and is a member of the Executive Committee for the Mississippi Bar. In addition to his activities as an attorney, Hugh earned the prestigious SR/WA designation awarded by the International Right of Way Association, a multi-disciplinary professional association comprised of engineers, attorneys, appraisers, surveyors, relocation assistance consultants and other professionals.

In 2005, Hugh was honored and inducted as a Fellow in the Mississippi Bar Foundation. Hugh has been recognized by Outstanding Lawyers of America, Who's Who Worldwide of Global Business Leaders, Coast Business Journal, South Mississippi Business Leaders Under 40, and Outstanding Young Men of America for contributions to his community and profession.

Hugh has been engaged as an instructor by the University of Mississippi, Jackson branch; William Carey College, Gulf Coast campus; Jackson State University and the International Right of Way Association. Additionally, he has been a panelist and guest speaker at numerous continuing legal education seminars sponsored by the National Business Institute, Lorman Education Services, Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association, and the Southern Gaming Summit.

Civic, community and church related activities include Chairman, Public Trust Tidelands Commission; President, Board of Trustees, Leadership Gulf Coast; Executive Council, Boy Scouts of America, Pine Burr Area Council; President, Mississippi Coast Crime Commission; Gulfport School District Strategic Planning Committee; Board of Directors, Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce; Gulfport Rotary Club; Charter Member and Grand Marshal (2001) of the Hibernia Marching Society of Mississippi, Inc. (Irish Heritage Society); Commissioner, South Mississippi District 6 Babe Ruth Baseball; President, Gulfport Bayou View Youth Sports Association, Inc.; Youth baseball coach for over 20 years.

Hugh is active in the Education for Ministry (EFM) program sponsored by the University of the South, in Sewanee, Tennessee. He is a former Sr. Warden, Jr. Warden and Vestryman at St. Marks Episcopal Church, Gulfport, Mississippi.

Hugh is married to Donna Johnson of Long Beach, Mississippi. They have three children: Erin; L.Cpl. Hugh Dennis Keating, Jr., USMC; and Daniel.
